Update!

Happy Tuesday!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still alive on the blogosphere.

Sometimes life (aka school) gets in the way.

Now that finals are over, I’m ready to reboot over Winter break.

I’ve been busy Christmas shopping as well!

Lately, I’ve really been into The LOFT and J Crew Factory.

My must haves on my wish list this year include shift dresses, romantic blouses, and infiniti scarves.

I’ve also become obsessed with the James Bond OPI collection. Currently, I’m sporting “You Only Live Twice,” which is perfect for the holiday season.

Falling in love with dinner parties

Happy Post Election Day!

I cannot believe the election is over! Speaking of elections, I felt inspired by celebrations going on across the country, and began dreaming of how I could organize a dinner party to celebrate with friends and family, just for the sake of being able to spend time together.

Now I know Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but I want to organize a dinner party for my friends when I’m home during my next break.

I’m feeling in the mood for a kind of autumn and leaves “rustic” feel to celebrate the rest of the season until the tide turns for the winter holidays.

Here are some ideas I found I’d like to work with:

Courtesy of Martha Stewart, glass votives, wrapped in dried cornhusks, cast a soft glow and make beautiful fall favors.

I found this on style me pretty. I like the use of burlap and the texture the twine adds to the mood. Very autumn outdoors. The jewel adds a touch of vintage antique that makes it classic.

Here’s another take on the burlap textured look from Pinterest. I would stick to autumn themed colors.

This table number idea I found on Pinterest would also fit in great with the theme. Though instead of numbers, I might use these jars for my guests’ names.

I love this pumpkin candle centerpiece, also from Pinterest. It adds to the “shabby chic” factor with the small sparkle added to the napkin ring seen above.

It also hints at the sparkle to be expected once the winter holiday season kicks off soon!

New Writing

I just wanted to share with you all that I have started a second blog called Politichic.

It’ll highlight my love of two of my favorite words: “Politic” and “Chic.”

I’ll be focusing on my love of political fashion.

“The art of dressing politically.”

Please check it out!

Gracious as Grace

Happy Thursday!

Grace Kelly once said, “I would like to be remembered as someone who accomplished useful deeds, and who was a kind and loving person. I would like to leave the memory of a human being with a correct attitude and who did her best to help others.”

I know that it can seem repetitive sometimes to keep referring back to the bygone eras of the past, but sometimes looking back at the past can help us live better lives in the present and hopefully, the future.

Classiness never goes out of style.

Princess Grace Kelly is an icon we as human beings should never forget.

We live in a time where social media thrives off scandal and anything remotely risqué.

I believe it’s important to not forget those icons of the past, such as as Princess Grace, who lived their lives in a poised, polite, and sophisticated manner.

I hope to live my life in the same manner as Grace did, and I hope that you will as well look upon her with the same inspiration and admiration that I do.

Just a little food for thought.

Wishful for Windows

Wonderful Wednesday to you all!

Do you ever have those moments where you just stop in your tracks and imagine what the whole world has to offer?

Well today is one of those days for me.

Sometimes you just cannot help but to daydream out your window and picture the finer things in life.

What better way than to spark that curiosity then by “peering through the looking glass” a la Alice in Wonderland.

Windows are our looking glasses into the outside world, so take a glimpse at something visionary today.

Lovely Libraries

Happy Tuesday to you all!

I cannot believe that October has finally arrived! Celebrating this new found sense of Autumn, I finally bought my first batch of Apple Cinnamon herbal tea!

There’s nothing like curling up in a blanket in the evening with a good book and a hot cup of tea.

Speaking of books, I’ve been wanting to visit an old historic library, preferably one in Europe because for some reason I have a sense that the architecture and historical mood would be much more appealing.

Plus, I feel like I’d be more inclined to want to visit the library and study!

Until the day my European library hopping adventure begins, (hopefully in the near future), here are some beautiful photographs of libraries I found online to feast my eyes upon.

I hope that you do the same.

Autumn Adorations

Happy Sunday to you all!

I cannot believe that the first day of October is upon us.

I love the month of October. I adore the crisp air of Autumn and the changing of the leaves into beautiful hues of red, orange, and gold.

I also adore the change of weather and change of wardrobe.

I’ve always been a lover of layering, and it’s finally the time of year to seize the opportunity!

Over the weekend, while not studying for my State and Local Government course examination, I’ve once again been perusing and “pinning” my new found favorites on Pinterest.

Pinterest is the perfect place to browse for inspiration for fall ensembles and being able to categorize them all into one place, or “board.”

Here are some of my must haves for this fall courtesy of Pinterest, which is quite a lovely site, and quite addicting.

Quick Update

Happy Friday!

I’m sorry that I’ve been MIA for the past month, I’ve been busy with the start of my second year of university.

This semester I’m taking a lot of political science courses. I find politics to be fascinating, especially since I’ll be voting in my first presidential election in a matter of weeks.

“Who I’m voting for?” you may ask. Well that’s a secret I’ll never tell.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a NEEDTOBREATHE concert. It was fantastic.

After the concert I met the lead singer of the opening act, Parachute.

I’ve been into red lipstick lately.

I promise to start posting more often!
